It seems the five-day liquor ban proposed by the Commission on Elections but blocked by the Supreme Court has been forgotten like this morning’s hangover.
The Comelec will no longer push to have the Temporary Restraining Order that the court issued revoked, with Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. saying the liquor ban resolution will just be withdrawn. The Supreme Court had given the Comelec until Thursday afternoon to comment on the TRO.
The Omnibus Election Code prohibits drinking on the day before election day and on the day itself.
“I’m not (disappointed) because at least I can still drink for three days,” Brillantes said in a Sun Star Online report.
