Graduation photos are meant to symbolize a student’s accomplishments and for this guy, that includes surviving four years of long, crowded bus commutes to and from school.

Bataan Peninsula State University-Balanga Campus graduate Horaze Kyle Lozano commemorated this achievement by cheekily wearing the bus tickets he collected throughout his four years in college in his graduation photo. He posted the snaps on Facebook late last month and it has since gone viral.

As of this article’s posting, his Facebook post already had more than 22,000 likes, more than 5,000 shares, and close to 700 comments.

In a Facebook message to Coconuts Manila, Lozano said that he decided to wear the bus tickets as a way of showing his gratitude to the bus companies that helped him get to school for four years.

“I wore those bus tickets to show my efforts in collecting and taking care of the tickets that I had. It is also a way for me to show how the bus company helped me in securing my safety as I travel to school,” he said.

The 20-year-old Education graduate said his classmates loved the idea.

“My classmates were really happy because they already know that I am collecting tickets from first year college. They were amazed by how I was able to take good care of my tickets despite its huge number.”

He believes his photo went viral because a lot of college students were probably able to relate to his experience.

Lozano shared that it usually takes him an hour and a half to wait for the bus and get home.

“It’s super difficult to commute; it’s tiring,” he said in Filipino. “Most of the time, I need to stand [in the bus] on the way to school and on the way home. You’re already tired and you still need to stand.”

“The trip is long but because I’ve been doing it for song long, it’s like I’m already immune to it,” he joked.

In his Facebook caption, Lozano sent a shout out to the bus companies he usually rides.

“Genesis and Bataan Transit, maybe you can give me a graduation gift! Free ride please,” he joked.

And one of the bus companies did reply.

Genesis Transport Service Inc. shared Lozano’s photo and said that they would give him a free roundtrip bus ride to Baguio City, Benguet or Baler, Aurora along with a three-day and two-night stay in a hotel.

“We are not really expecting that the bus company would notice the post, that is why we are surprised when the bus company offered us a trip to Baguio or Baler. I feel bless (sic) and extremely happy that they gave me a free ride which becomes [a] graduation gift to me and my loved ones,” Lozano said.
