Government agencies should really screen the people they hire.

“A member of the Philippine Coast Guard in Dagupan City was arrested Thursday, February 12, over allegations he raped a 13-year-old girl right inside the Coast Guard’s substation in Dagupan City Wednesday night, February 11,” reports GMA News Online.

The suspect, who was identified as Romualdo Maranan, is now in police custody.

The report noted: “According to the girl, she was raped inside the Philippine Coast Guard substation in Dagupan on Wednesday night after she was asked to massage the suspect for PHP200.”

The girl immediately told her parents what happened. A medico-legal report confirmed that she was raped.

Maranan declined to comment on the allegations. Aside from the charges that will be filed against him by the girl’s family. He also faces a separate administrative investigation by his superiors at the Coast Guard.
