The hefty penalty alone should stop him from making that nasty gesture again.
“Rain or Shine Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao was slapped with a one-game suspension and a P100,000 fine by the PBA Office on Wednesday, Feb 4, for his persistent misconduct,” reports Mark Giongco on Inquirer.net.
During Rain or Shine’s smackdown with the Petron Blaze Boosters in Game 3 last Saturday, Feb 2, Guiao flashed a dirty finger right in front of Booster player Arwind Santos’ face when he fell towards the Painters’ bench in the third quarter.
Guiao, who already had a technical foul at that point, was immediately sent out of the court with about a minute and a half remaining in the quarter. Later on, he said he was only trying to “fire up” his team. Unfortunately, they lost, 73-106.
Then, in Game 4, which was held on Monday night, Feb 3, Guiao was once again spotted raising a dirty finger as he was walking towards his team’s dugout after being ejected for picking up his second technical foul early in the third quarter. His gesture was allegedly directed towards the PBA commissioner and tech committee’s table.
So, that translates to PHP50,000 per dirty finger.
Guiao will not be with his team for Game 5, on Friday, Feb 7. Rain or Shine is currently in the lead over Petron, 3-1, in the best-of-seven series of their 2014 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals match-up.
