“ISIS kidnapped about 20 medical workers with the Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte, Libya, on Monday during an attack on the facility, according to a hospital official,” reports Ayman Kekly on CNN.
According to the report, most of the abductees are from the Philippines.
Earlier last week, the Departmet of Foreign Affairs confirmed that four Fiipinos were kidnapped in a separate incident on a Libyan oil field.
“At time of the attack, two weeks na hindi nag-ooperate ang oil field na yun, isinara na dahil sa attacks sa ibang oil field… During that time may natira na Pinoys, sila ang nadukot. Hindi natin alam sino may hawak sa kanila. Sa Libya ang situation, maraming armed groups na naglalaban-laban hindi mo alam sino responsible,” Assistant Secretary and DFA spokesman Charles Jose was quoted in an ABS-CBNNews.com report.
This time, CNN reports that “a group of more than 30 gunmen from the Islamic State attacked the hospital while a bus was waiting to take the workers, who are not Libyan, to the capital of Tripoli.”
