While most of us were probably sleeping, a military bishop held mass atop the cool peak of Mount Pulag, the third highest mountain in the Philippines.
Bishop Oscar Jaime Florencio of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines held a rather picturesque Eucharistic celebration at the summit of the popular mountain at sunrise on Thursday.
The bishop was accompanied by other priests, including Reverend Monsignor Albert Songco, the Cordillera Regional Pastoral Officer, as well as other police officers.
The Mount Pulag mass is part of the pastoral visitation initiatives by the Military Bishop under the PNP Cordillera.
The Military Ordinariate of the Philippines is the diocese for men and women in uniform, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and Philippine Coast Guard.
The mass at Mount Pulag was said to be part of the “spiritual upliftment, physical, moral, and care for the common home drive” of the members of the Philippine National Police.
Mount Pulag is the Luzon island’s highest peak and is the third-highest peak in the country, its territory falling within the Cordillera Administrative Region and the Cagayan Valley region. It is a popular attraction for mountain climbers.
