OK, this is getting weird. Another school received a bomb threat this morning, making it the second known incident of its kind just this week.
Classes in the Dayap Elementary School in Calauan, Laguna were suspended today after a school official received a bomb threat, The Philippine Daily Inquirer‘s Radyo reported.
According to police, School Principal Mylene Dimaculangan got the threat over a text message at around 6:30am. Classes were then suspended and students were made to go home for their safety.
Authorities searched the school but reportedly saw no bombs or explosives.
These school bomb threats are getting really old really quick.
Just yesterday, the Bulacan State University also received a bomb threat which resulted in the cancelation of classes. Cops think it could’ve been a prank to push back exams.
Bomb scares have also hit universities in Metro Manila throughout the past weeks, this includes the Mapua Institute of Technology and the University of Santo Tomas among others. No explosives were found on the campuses.
A bomb threat is considered a serious offense under the Presidential Decree 1727. It declares as unlawful “the malicious dissemination of false information or the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives or any similar device or means of destruction and imposing penalties therefor.”
Offenders may face imprisonment of not more than 5 years, and/or a fine of not more than PHP40,000 (US$739.55).
So, seriously, stop it.
