Classes in all elementary and secondary public schools in Cebu City were suspended on Tuesday after at least 4 schools in the city received bomb threats.

The schools that received the threats were Gothong Memorial National School, Zapatera National School, Lahug Elementary School and Mabolo Elementary School.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak said the schools received the bomb threat through text message while the city’s Office of Schools Division received the threat through a phone call.

Tumulak and Cebu City Schools Division Superintendent Benito Dagatan decided to suspend the classes for the safety of the students.

Tumulak said they have already traced the number of the person sending the threats to the schools via text messages. He said each school was receiving the threats from the same number.
