Civil Service Commission now accepts ‘kotong’ complaints via text

We hope the follow-up action is near-instant, too.

“Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairman Francisco Duque said complaints can be forwarded to the Contact Center ng Bayan (CCB) through its text messaging hotline 0908-881-6565,” reports Michael Punongbayan in The Philippine Star.

The CSC made the announcement during the launch of Walang Asenso sa Kotong (WASAK) project in Quezon City on Monday, July 28,” reports Michael Punongbayan on Philstar.com.

The report explained that the project Initiated by Sen. Bam Aquino in collaboration with government agencies and private groups, “seeks to provide assistance to business-related concerns in support of the implementation of Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.”

The WASAK helpline is basically a feedback mechanism through which the CSC can receive complaints on kotong (extortion) and bribery from micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs). The helpline can also accommodate reports on government personnel and agencies that cause delays in business transactions.
