Note: Apparently, this memorandum is causing employees of private firms to wonder if it also covers them. Since the memorandum does not specifically say that, we advise those employed by private firms to ask their office administrators if they are covered by the declaration of Mar 23 as a non-wroking holiday.
In a memorandum dated Mar 10, 2016 and signed by Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, the city of Manila declared Wed, Mar 23 a non-working holiday in observance of the Holy Week. This is to give the city’s employees a headstart in the Holy Week exodus.
Thus, employees whose offices are in Manila City will have an extra non-working holiday. Mar 24 (Maundy Thursday) and Mar 25 (Good Friday) are already declared national regular holidays by virtue of Proclamation 1105 signed by President Noynoy Aquino last year.
