Sen. Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero on Tuesday resigned from both his Senate committee chairmanships.
“I believe that it behooves me to step down at this juncture to ensure that deliberations on the General Appropriations Bill – considered the single most important piece of legislation passed by Congress each year – are untainted by suspicions or perceptions of partisan politics,” the senator said in a statement.
“Despite not having a clear deciions on what position he would be running for in the 2016 national elections, Escudero said it would be better for him to leave his posts as early as now,” reports Jon Christoffer Obice on newscenteral.ph.
Escudero tendered his resignation to Senate President Frank Drilon on Tuesday morning.
