Chito Miranda stands by Duterte

Duterte’s recent controversial statements aren’t exactly becoming of a presidential candidate.

On Monday during a speech, Duterte cursed at the Pope for the massive traffic jams cause by the Papal Visit last January. “P-ina ka umuwi ka na. Wag ka nang magbisita dito,” he joked.

Obviously, a lot of people were offended by it.

But Chito Miranda gives zero fucks.

On a Facebook post, Parokya ni Edgar’s lead vocalist, who is Catholic, said he wasn’t offended by the Pope swearing incident.

“Di naman ganun katanga si Duterte para murahin nya si Pope sa context na pinapalabas ng ibang tao,” a portion of his Facebook post reads.

“I still firmly believe that he is what our country needs…naniniwala ako na gusto nya talaga ayusin ang Pilipinas,” he adds.

On Twitter, he continued his discussion on the matter, acknowledging that Duterte needs to be more sensitive but that he doesn’t think the Davao mayor was actually attacking the religion.

Yesterday, Duterte already issued a non-apology, saying it was never his intention to curse at the Holy Father.

In October, Miranda revealed he refused a whopping PHP2 million offer to endorse a presidential candidate on Twitter.

Back then, he said there were only two candidates he was willing to endorse, even pro-bono: Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Rodrigo Duterte.
