The dismembered body parts of a Chinese woman were discovered last night at The Lerato Residence Tower 1 on Malugay Street in Barangay (village) Bel Air in Makati City.
Radio station RMN identified the victim as 26-year-old Wang Ya Lei.
Radyo Inquirer reported that the building’s security personnel found a nylon bag containing a blood-stained knife and clothes in the building’s trash bin. Upon checking the CCTV footage, they discovered that the bag was brought there by a group of four persons identified as Zhang Chuning, the owner of a unit in the building; his friends Zhang Cha Quan; Wang Xue; and Zhang Yi Xi.
When the security team checked Chuning’s unit, they discovered Wang’s chopped up body parts inside a briefcase while her head was found in a separate bag.
According to Philippine National Police – National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Guillermo Eleazar, Chuning claims to have had an argument with Wang which led to her trying to kill him with the murder weapon. Chuning says he managed to take the weapon from Wang and killed her instead, reported ABS-CBN News.
The victim, who was stabbed 10 times, reportedly fell in love with Chuning’s girlfriend which led to their argument.
Said Eleazar: “She asked her friends’ help to chop up the body. According to the interpreter, they were fighting over a woman.”
In an interview, Chuning apologized for killing Wang. She said through an interpreter: “She wants to kill me… We were fighting. I’m sorry I did not want to kill her.”
The other three all denied helping Chuning commit the grisly crime.
The four suspects will be charged with murder.
