A 33-year-old Chinese national was allegedly shot to death by five of his compatriots inside a Bel-Air Village restaurant in Makati City last night.
Makati police have identified the victim as Yin Jian Tao, who was killed inside Jiang-Nan Hot Pot, CNN Philippines reports. Meanwhile, his 25-year-old wife Kai Zheng was left injured in the shooting.
The couple arrived at the restaurant with five other Chinese nationals at a little past 10pm, news TV show Unang Balita reports. The group entered the restaurant’s VIP room and a few minutes later, the restaurant’s staff heard gunshots and Zheng screaming.

When the staff went in to check, they saw Zheng injured, while Tao died on the spot. Three of the suspects immediately escaped, but two, one of whom was injured, were stopped from fleeing by the restaurant’s security guards. One captured suspect has been identified as Yang Chao Wen while the police have yet to identify his co-accused, who remains at the hospital, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports.
Yang told investigators that he has been a tourist in the Philippines for two months, and had been invited to the country by his hospitalized companion for work. Police seized two firearms from the suspects as well as PHP345,000 (US$6,778) in cash, which was allegedly stolen from the victims.
The police are still searching for the three other suspects.
