Photos have surfaced online of Chinese military activities on the islands they have reclaimed in the disputed West Philippine Sea. China continues to refer to the area as South China Sea.

And what’s happening on these newly created islands?

A Reuters report noted: “[The photos] are from the Fiery Cross Reef, one of the reefs under China’s control in the disputed South China Sea, showing lush greenhouses, plump pigs in a livestock enclosure, and even female sailors posing on ocean breakwalls.”

Indeed, these photos from SINA.com show female Chinese sailors happily posing around the island. They are part of a slideshow entitled, “Gratifying results on China’s Yongshu Reef: Building vegetable greenhouses (and) growing fruit trees.”

China has been doing extensive reclamation in the disputed territory.

The “Fiery Cross Reef” is called Kagitingan Reef by Filipnos. It is also called  Yongshu Island or Yongshu Reef.
