In a Facebook status message posted last night, Nov 12, Emelio “Chieffy” Caligdong announced that he has retired from the Azkals.
The Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo native — who is tagged as a brilliant player — wrote, “To all my supporters and fans, family and friends, Philippine Azkals supporters, management a heartfelt thank you to all of you. To my teammates, coaching staff and management, thank you for the unforgettable memories. It will always be in my heart.”
Caligdong added: “Even though I will not be playing in the team anymore, my heart, prayers and support are always with the team. To the present players, future and the next generation of Azkals may you play with all your heart, and wear the flag with honor and pride! Let’s all support the Philippine football as it continues to flourish in our country. God bless Philippine football!”
