Is the timing just a coincidence?

As a Change.org petition calling for his resignation gained momentum,  Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino was seen personally directing traffic on Wed, Aug 26.

“Tolentino’s first stop was along Katipunan Avenue, in front of Ateneo de Manila University’s Gate 3 in Quezon City. He directed traffic for an hour in Quezon City before proceeding to EDSA Megamall by 8am to also take control of the traffic flow,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Tolentino claimed that it was not the first time that he personally did a traffic enforcer’s tasks.

The question is, will his traffic enforcer stint convince people to take down the Change.org petition, “Resign, Chairman Francis Tolentino.” As of 4pm on Wed, Aug 26, it has gotten 2,207 signatures. It needs to reach 2,500 signatues.

The report noted: “Tolentino refused to comment on calls for him to resign. He however said he was in Cebu to help facilitate preparations for the Asia Pacific Economic Operation (APEC) Summit.”
