MANILA – The Sandiganbayan has ordered the arrest of businessman Cedric Lee and former Mariveles, Bataan Mayor Angel Peliglorio for charges of graft and malversation.

The case stemmed from the alleged anomalous transaction in the failed construction of a public market in the province in 2005 worth P23 million.

The Sandiganbayan Third Division said the funds were released to Lee’s company Izumo Contractors Corp. despite the lack of procedural safeguards and guarantee of performance.

Lee is the president and chief executive of Izumo Contractors, which entered into a deal with the Mariveles municipal government under then-Mayor Peliglorio.

The recommended bail for graft is P30,000 and P40,000 for malversation. — Reports from Johnson Manabat, dzMM and Adrian Ayalin, ABS-CBN News
