Cebu Pacific aircraft skids on NAIA runway, takes out runway lights

A Cebu Pacific airplane from Iloilo skidded on the runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila on Thursday afternoon, damaging five runway lights and setting the low-cost carrier up for more jokes about bad landings.

According to GMA News Online, airport operations were not disrupted by the incident and there was no need to declare an emergency.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will investigate the incident has already grounded the pilot. CAAP deputy director general John Andrews has acknowledged that there was heavy downpour when the Cebu Pacific airplane skidded.

Earlier this month, the Davao international airport had to be shut down for two days after a Cebu Pacific plane had a landing mishap there. Passengers had to leave the plane through an emergency slide after waiitng in the dark for around 30 minutes.

The airline received a lot of criticism, and the loss of an acocunt with Ateneo de Davao University, for its supposed inept response to the incident.
