You have to hand it to these thieves — they’ll use all kinds of “props” so that store personnel will let down their guard.

This CCTV footage shows two women working in tandem in order to take some underwear from a store along Lower Mabini Street in Baguio City.

According to store personnel, the two women arrived at the store together. One woman was carrying a child, while the other woman appeared to be pregnant.

Then, the pregnant woman got the attention of a store clerk by asking her about some items. When the sales clerk turned away, the woman with the child grabbed a bunch of underwear packs hanging near a display case and then appeared to tuck them in between her body and that of her child’s.

After a few moments, the two women left the establishment. A TV Patrol report said that they had stolen around PHP4,000 worth of underwear.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has said the use of the child in a crime can be tagged as child abuse. According to Republic Act 7610, anyone who makes use of a child in illegal activities may be jailed.
