Carjacking group leader nabbed in Caloocan City

He keeps getting arrested, but he probably doesn’t care because he can put up the bail money. Let’s hope that’s not the case this time around.

Joemel Salvatierra—the suspected leader of a notorious carjacking group—was arrested in Caloocan City on Monday night, Mar 17.

“Salvatierra was arrested for an illegal possession of firearms charge, making this his third arrest since 2012,” reports Julliane Love De Jesus on Inquirer.net.

The report explained that Salvatierra was tagged in the 2012 theft of former senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr.’s vehicle. His carjacking group is known to have been preying on cars in Bulacan, Pampanga, and Metro Manila since 2010.

Salvatierra and some members of his group have been arrested before but they were able to post bail.
