Bad traffic, as it turns out, is also the perfect setting for a crime.
“Armed robbers recently took advantage of the snail-paced traffic along Mindanao Avenue near Alley 15 in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City—they robbed a van that was stuck in the gridlock,” reports Jeannette I. Andrade in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The incident happened at around 6pm. Jamel Macadaag, who was driving his white Toyota Hi-Ace (POB-139), was suddenly approached by a man with a .38-cal. revolver.
According to the report, “The man pointed the gun at Macadaag’s nape as another opened the door on the driver’s side and grabbed the steering wheel.” *Macadaag, afraid of what the carjackers would do to him, managed to jump out of the van. He ran to a nearby establishment to seek help from security guards.
Unfortunately, when the police came, they could no longer locate the van.
The investigation is ongoing.
