Cardinal Tagle celebrates mass for Jonas Burgos

On Thursday, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila, celebrated mass at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene for still missing Jonas Burgos.

Mrs. Edita Burgos’s spirits were buoyed in the hopes that her son is still alive and the possibility still exists that she will be reunited with him.  In six years, this mother has kept the faith that her son is alive.

On April 28, 2007, Jonas Burgos was abducted by unidentified men near the Ever Gotesco Mall at Monumento, Caloocan City. Except for a photograph sent to his mother, he has not been seen since. Jonas Burgos was an agronomist promoting organic farming in Bulacan. At the time of the abduction, there were military reports suspecting him of being a communist guerrilla leader, Inquirer News reported.
