The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) has alerted all local disaster offices heads in the Caraga region Friday to monitor and act accordingly as tropical depression “Bising” is anticipated to bring rains that may cause flooding in the region.
In its latest weather bulletin Saturday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Bising has slightly slowed down as it begins to move northwestward.
At 10 a.m., the tropical depression’s eye was estimated based on all available data at 515 kilometers (km) east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. No tropical cyclone warning signals were raised.
The RDDRMC named areas of rivers and tributaries in the region that can likely be affected by running waters and put residents in danger.
Areas likely to be affected are as follows:
Dinagat Islands – Rivers and tributaries particularly Malinao Inlet and Gaas Inlet
Agusan del Sur – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Ojot, Wawa, Lubang, Maosam, Kasilan, Gibong, Simulao, Kayonan and Andanan
Agusan del Norte – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Lake-Mainit-Tubay, Asiga, Agusan, Linugos and Cabadbaran
Surigao del Norte – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Surigao and Magallanes
Surigao del Sur – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Cantilan, Toracan, Tandag, Tago, Hubo-Otieza, Hinatuan and Bislig
Caraga Office of Civil Defense Director Rosauro Arnel Gonzales Jr., also issued a written notice advising the public and local DRRMC units to take appropriate action as necessary.
