Carabao goes berserk in QC, barges into apartelle and call center

At around 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, a carabao escaped from a 10-wheeler truck as the vehicle stopped at Mega-Q Mart’s slaughterhouse along Ermin Garcia Street, Quezon City,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.

According to Police Officer 1 Lloyd Serafica, the carabao gored butcher Junet Rufino, 35, in the buttocks.

The carabao did a lot of damage destroyed the lobby of a Maria’s Place Apartelle along New York Street. It then barged into the Telus call center office building. The call center workers had to be evacuated due to the ruckus caused by the carabao.

The authorities finally managed to subdue the carabao at the call center.

Several people were said to have been injured by the carabao’s rampeg.

Among the victims were bystander Maria Betty Tanion, 32, and utility worker Willy Aris, 44.

The two were confined at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center. The carabao had gored Aris’ right leg while Tanion was reported to have suffered head wounds.

Other reports state as many as seven people were hurt in the incident.

The report noted: “Truck, driven by Domingo Nocedal Jr., 30, was loaded with 30 carabaos and nine cows from Naga City. Nocedal and his helpers — Dante Floresca, 39; Edwin Perez, 31; and Adrian Fresco, 25 — were arrested following the incident.”

Senior Police Officer 1 Kingly James Bagay revealed that “Nocedal was eventually freed after he was found to have had nothing to do with the handling and safekeeping of the animals.” However, the helpers were charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries.
