Filipinos with a bad case of FOMO mobbed Harvard University’s Facebook page after the perhaps befuddled Ivy League institution announced the arrival of its students in an online post yesterday.

Ridiculous fake memories were posted in droves by Pinoy students supposedly yearning for the campus’ coconuts juice and loving how Harvard fines people for speaking English in August, considered Filipino language month. Things got so bad that it bothered other Facebook users on the esteemed university’s page.

One person using the name Grace Note, for instance, pleaded with Pinoys to put their “humor [in the] right place and right page.”

“To all Filipinos, I saw you so please, this page was only for Harvard not for all those nonsense talking. If you want to make fun, make fun on the other page that is fit for that…this is a respected institution!” she said.

A Pinoy student named Arnold Arnold wrote, “Harvard must be confused [why] 98.2% of the page visits are Filipinos. lol.”

The online gag spilled to Philippine Twitter, where Harvard became one of the trending topics.

Someone using the handle @RyanhazeS tweeted this edited photo of him on the Boston campus grounds, saying, “Officially enrolled, thank you @Harvard.”

User @taboyonerule posted this photo of what looks like the university’s law school graduates celebrating while holding tiny gavels in their hands.

“It’s carpentry students’ graduation! Congrats!!!”

A certain @justtrynaexist tweeted, “Harvard right now be like: WTF is wrong with these Filipinos.”

The Massachusetts-based university is welcoming a limited number of students, or up to 25% of its undergraduates to return this month. The school has prepared plans to mitigate the possible spread of the coronavirus among real students on campus.
