Here’s something you don’t see every day. A Caloocan trader and his customs broker have been charged with trying to smuggle a submarine into the country.
According to the Bureau of Customs, Roberto Navarra and his broker Lucman Calbe Jr. have been charged before the Department of Justice for trying to bring in a recreational submarine that they declared as outboard motor parts and accessories from Korea. Navarra’s firm, Dionysus Trading was the consignee for the smuggled sub.
The submarine was brought in in a container van and had yet to be assembled, which explains why Navarra did not just sail the submarine into the country instead.
