A Caloocan court has issued a warrant of arrest this morning against three policemen allegedly involved in the killing of teenager Kian delos Santos last year.
Police officers Arnel Oares, Jeremias Pereda, and Jerwin Cruz are facing murder charges for the killing of the 17-year-old which sparked public outrage against the government’s war on drugs.
The three police officers, who were posted in Caloocan police station 7, were part of an anti-illegal drugs police operation that allegedly led to the killing of Delos Santos.
They initially said Delos Santos, who was a high school student at the time, violently resisted arrest. But CCTV footage and witnesses’ accounts have cast doubt on the officers’ version of the events.

Oares and Pereda, later on, admitted that they were the men shown in a CCTV footage dragging Delos Santos to the spot where he was killed.
Cruz, however, had denied this and said it was not the teenager they were dragging, but a police asset.
The teenager, who wanted to become a policeman, was laid to rest in August 2017.
