The plot twists in this story are so dramatic, they’re making our heads spin.
“The Court of Appeals (CA) Sixth Division on Monday, March 16, issued a five-page temporary restraining order (TRO) with an effectivity of 60 days to stop the Ombudsman from implementing its six-month suspension of Makati Mayor Junjun Binay over corruption allegations,” reports Mark Merueñas on GMA News Online.
The CA issued the TRO just hours after the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) served Binay’s suspension. The CA has set oral arguments for Binay’s petition for certiorari questioning his suspension on Mar 30 and 31.
The report noted: “Binay, son of Vice President Jejomar Binay, is facing graft and plunder charges in connection with the alleged overpricing in the construction of the Makati City Hall Building II.”
Binay’s case, as the report indicated, “is being handled by the CA Sixth Division, with CA Associate Justice Jose Reyes as chair and ponente, and Associate Justices Francisco Acosta and Eduardo Peralta as members.”
