Butuan City under state of calamity, 2,000 families affected by floods

We hope the rains stop soon.

“Butuan City has just been placed under state of calamity due to severe floods and non-stop rains,” reports ANC. According to Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr., the number of flooded barangays in the city has climbed 22, displacing more than 2,000 families.

The report revealed that the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is closely monitoring the water level in Agusan River. Butuan City was placed under alert level 3 after water in Agusan River rose to 3.05 meters on Monday morning, Jan 13.

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) is expected to continue to bring rains in the southern part of the country.
