A fight between two drinking buddies turned deadly at the Malabon Central Market early Tuesday morning.
According to a report in GMA News, Ricardo Basalbal, a chicken butcher at the market was stabbed multiple times by his drinking buddy and fellow chicken butcher Bryan Layan.
According to witnesses, the two were drinking and got in a fist fight the night before the stabbing.
The incident was caught on camera showing Layan stabbing Basalbal near his stand at the market. Basalbal ran, but Layan ran after him where he stabbed his drinking buddy to death.
According to Layan, he was triggered because Basalbal wouldn’t stop harassing him about his low tolerance for alcohol.
“Sinaksak ko lang po ‘yan ma’am kasi sa sobrang punung-puno na po ako. Lagi niyang sinasabi na hanggang baso lang daw ako… Baso, hanggang inom lang po ako. Ilang beses na po niyang ginawa iyon,” Layan told GMA News.

Layan, who surrendered to police, told GMA News he regretted what he did and would face the murder charges.
