Searching for solutions to Metro Manila’s traffic problem is like looking for the cure to the common cold. So many people have tried and failed. But, hey, we’re all about trying.
“The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has invited companies to submit eligibility documents to establish a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Manila and Quezon City” reports ABS-CBNNews.com.
The proposed BRT route will be along Quezon Avenue, C-5 Road, and Ortigas Avenue in Metro Manila.
According to DOTC Undersecretary Catherine Gonzales, interested firms have until Nov 8 to submit the documents for the environmental impact assessment and social impact assessment studies of the BRT project, which has a budget of PHP5.69 million.
The report revealed: “The rating system for shortlisting includes applicable experience (50%), qualification of personnel (30%), and current workload relative to capacity (20%).” Moreover, “the bidding is limited to Filipino citizens or companies with at least 60 percent interest belonging to Filipinos.”
The proposed BRT system is reportedly patterned after those in Colombia, South Korea, and China.
