On the morning of Feb 7, a Florida Transport Bus fell down a deep ravine in Bontoc, Mt. Province. Comedian Arvin “Tado Jimenez” was among the casualties of the crash.
Jimenez had gone to Mt. Province as part of his 40 Mountains Project. He had wanted to climb 40 mountains this year, as he would also have turned 40 years old.
“According to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the ill-fated Florida Transport Bus (license number TXT-872) should not have been on the road at all,” reports GMA News Online.
It turns out that the license plate of the bus was issued to a bus from Mountain Province Cable Tours owned by a certain Norberto Cue, Sr.
Moreover, the LTFRB revealed, “No application for Approval of Sale and Transfer has been filed by Norberto M. Cue, Sr. in favor of G.V. Florida. In view of this, there is no authority for G.V. Florida to operate the said bus under its name.”
As such, as the report pointed out, “the LTFRB has suspended more than 200 buses owned by Florida as well as 10 units owned by Mountain Province Cable tours.”
