It took 30 minutes to get bus conductor Ricky Monton from the wreckage of a collision between the JAC Liner bus he was on and a truck parked along the stretch of South Superhighway in Makati City early Sunday morning.
It was too late, though. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Makati City Medical Center according to a DZMM report. The accident also left passenger Henry Abrera, and delivery helpers Marvin Peñaverde and Harold Escalante injured, the report said.
The truck, which was carrying cardboard cartons, was parked along the highway because of a flat tire. According to the truck driver, he and his crew had put up an early warning device to alert motorists that they were doing repairs. Authorities are still investigating how bus driver Policarpio Ilagan missed the EWD and hit the truck.
Ilagan, who may face charges over the accident, ran away from the scene.
