Bus gets into accident in Quezon Avenue, nobody harmed

This is yet another proof that most of the buses plying Metro Manila routes are in poor condition. We use the word “accident” here, but it could clearly be a case of neglect.

“On Wednesday morning, Dec 18, a Mafel Trans bus (UVA 512) bound for Fairview figured in an accident in Quezon Avenue in Quezon City when its two left rear tires detached in the middle of the road after the studs that were supposed to secure them snapped,” reports dzMM correspondent Johnson Manabat on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Although no one was injured in the accident, one of the bus’ runaway tires was thrown several meters away. It hit a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a passenger jeepney on the opposite lane. The bus driver, who was identified as Crescencio De Villa, claims he was only driving at 40 kilometers per hour when the tires got detached. He also reiterated that he made sure the bus he drove was in good condition before he took it out.

Yeah, right.
