Ahoy, mateys.

Facebook user Tim Fameronag shared a now-viral post last night likening his bus commute to riding a ship after a sudden downpour caused flooding along España Boulevard, Manila.

“A while ago I was on a bus. When I woke up, I was on a ship,” he said on his caption.

Fameronag told Coconuts Manila that he was on his way home to Fairview, Quezon City from work in Pasay City when it suddenly rained really hard.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a thunderstorm advisory yesterday for Metro Manila, as well as some provinces.

Fameronag said he fell asleep along Padre Burgos Ave. in Ermita, Manila while on commute because of the traffic and woke up along España Boulevard.

“It was around 8pm when the heavy downpour happened so when I got to España [Boulevard] near UST (University of Santo Tomas) campus, the flood was already high,” Fameronag said in Filipino.

España Boulevard is one of the most flood-prone roads in the metro. Students from the nearby UST were even stranded due to the flood last night, the school’s publication The Varsitarian reported.

Fameronag said that the flood was about knee-deep. He also posted a follow-up Facebook video of the bus braving the storm:

His Facebook post had over 35,000 likes and 39,000 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens thought it was hilarious.
