On Wed, Sep 9, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested 46 foreigners — mostly Chinese, Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals — at the Bagong Milenyo Plaza mall in Baclaran, Pasay City for illegally working in the country. The the BI was assisted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Public Safety Battalion during the raid.
“The foreigner, who didn’t have working permits, were engaged in selling items such as mobile phones, accessories, slippers, and umbrellas. They were brought to the BI main office in Intramuros,” reports Evelyn Macairan in The Philippine Star.
BI intelligence division acting chief Jose Carlitos Licas said most of the foreigners failed to present travel documents. Thus, they will undergo deportation proceedings. They be detained at the BI facility in Taguig City pending their deportation.
