“Bureau of Customs (BOC) deputy commissioner Jessie Dellosa on recently admitted that the BOC does not have enough sniffing dogs that could detect drugs being smuggled into the country,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Dellosa clarified that though that the BOC K9 dogs can only sniff out shabu.
In fact, Dellosa said the BOC merely “borrows” canines from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), whose dogs can detect both shabu and cocaine.
The report said that the BOC is nonetheless “now training handlers in any case they are able to acquire additional dogs to its K9 unit.”
