Bullies beware: big brother is watching

The city government of Taguig has made a big investment to ensure the security of its students inside campuses. Some PHP25-million has been earmarked for its antibullying program which mainly focuses on intalling closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) and metal detectors in all of Taguig’s 34 public schools.

Department of Education (DepEd) Taguig-Pateros administrator George Tizon said in an Inquirer News report that the city has already bought 12 CCTVs – and four of them are being installed in schools.

Tizon added that 4 to 12 security cameras may be installed per school, depending on the size of the campus or the student population. At least one metal detector would also be installed per campus.  Additionally, help desks and hotlines will be set up at every campus so students and teachers may report incidents of bullying.
