‘Brenda’ is the new code for robbery

When you’re in a public utility vehicle and you hear someone calling out for “Brenda,” be on the lookout.

A man on board a UV express in Pasig City on Wednesday night called for “Brenda” three times. When no one turned, the suspect and his companion declared a robbery, according to a Manila Bulletin report.

“Close to PHP100,000 worth of cash, cellular phones, and other gadgets” were taken away from passengers and the driver while the vehicle was traversing IPI Flyover in Barangay Rosario. The suspects flagged down the vehicle in front of Rosario Church, according to investigators.

Apparently, the suspects used “Brenda” as a code to start the robbery, the police said.
