The lady lawyer who seemed all gung-ho about defending alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles has tapped out.
“Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima confirmed the report that Atty. Lorna Kapunan has withdrawn as Janet Lim Napoles’ legal counsel in the serious illegal detention case on Wednesday, Oct 30,” reports Kristine Angeli Sabillo of Inquirer.net.
Kapunan has not yet released a statement about her move. It is also not clear if she is completely cutting her ties with Napoles or if she is merely choosing not to represent her for this particular case.
Napoles, who is currently detained at Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna, was arrested for the alleged illegal detention of Benhur Luy, one of the whistleblowers in the pork barrel scam.
