If this isn’t a good enough reason to ban firecrackers, then we don’t know what is.
“John Kenneth Deñega, 12, was declared brain-dead after he suffered injuries from the explosion of the firecracker powder that he and another boy, Mark Jason Gotos, had collected from firecrakers that didn’t explode during the New Year festivities,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com. The blast happened on Thursday, Jan 2. Deñega died on Friday night, Jan 3.
Meanwhile, the other boy lost both his hands and his left eye. He is still in the hospital.
The victim and his friend reportedly wanted to play with the firecrackers’ powder when it suddenly exploded. The dead boy’s mother, Anita, is backing the proposal to ban all firecrackers.
