Boxing match: Cojuangco vs. Ferrer

This isn’t Pacquiao vs. Bradley, but it will probably make us laugh.

Carlos “Charlie” Cojuanco—the son of businessman Eduardo “Danding Cojuangco Jr. and a former Negros Occidental 4th District congressman—has agreed to a boxing match between him and current Negros Occidental 4th District Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer, with each camp betting PHP100 million.

The boxing match was suggested by Cojuangco’s relative, former Pulupandan, Negros Occidental mayor Magdaleno Peña, after Cojuangco and Ferrer fought at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Mar 6. Peña explained that Cojuangco had, indeed, confirmed to him that the airport altercation had happened.

According to a statement released by Peña, Cojuangco agreed to face Ferrer in 30 days at the Bago City Gymnasium. “The proposal would be both camps to place a bet of PHP100 million—the winner gets his money back, while the loser will donate his money to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda,” reports Danny Dangcalan in The Philippine Star.

Cojuangco’s camp is waiting for Ferrer’s response to the challenge.

Meanwhile, the report noted that both congressman have refused to directly comment on the issue. Well, they don’t have to. Punches speak louder than words.
