MANILA, Philippines – Purefoods Star’s Denzel Bowles nailed the go-ahead jumper that concluded a triple-overtime exchange with Talk ‘N text for a 118-117 squeaker at the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday evening.
Bowles was limping with a hurt knee following an accidental contact with Talk ‘N Text’s Matt Ganuelas-Rosser. But this didn’t stop him from saving the Hotshots with his jumper just 7 seconds to go before the buzzer.
Bowles poured in 11 of his 30 points during the triple overtime, which lasted for a total of 15 minutes.
Five Purefoods locals also contributed double-digit figures. Alex Mallari scored 17 points, James Yap had 15, while Joe Devance added 14. Mark Barroca and PJ Simon had 13 and 10 markers, respectively for the Hotshots’ 6th win in 8 starts.
Purefoods now shares the second spot with the Tropang Texters.
Import Ivan Johnson led Talk ‘N Text with 26 points to go with his 15 rebounds. But he got fouled out during the extra time and this proved costly for the Tropang Texters.
Jayson Castro added 24 markers, while Ganuelas chipped in 20 in Talk ‘N Text’s losing effort.
