Lawyer-turned-vlogger Trixie Cruz-Angeles, who recently accepted President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s offer to head the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), said that she will prioritize accrediting vloggers to allow them to attend the official press briefings and press conferences held by the incoming president.
“[We are pushing] for the accreditation of vloggers to be invited to some of the briefings, especially those conducted by the president-elect. That is one of the priorities we have formulated for the incoming PCOO,” Angeles said at a press briefing.
It wouldn’t be the first time vloggers were given access to the president in ways once limited to journalists. Outgoing PCOO chief and acting spokesman Martin Andanar also accredited vloggers and bloggers supportive of President Rodrigo Duterte to attend presidential events — in 2017, 14 bloggers were given accreditation to cover the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) events in Manila.
Meanwhile, President-elect Marcos Jr. has been selective about media interviews, notoriously turning down several presidential interviews throughout the campaign and inviting only three reporters to a press conference held the day after his proclamation.
