President Noynoy Aquino earlier stated that he “doesn’t mind giving humanitarian considerations to 90-year-old Senator Juan Ponce Enrile if he is ordered detained for the pork barrel scam.”
Aquino cited Enrile’s possible health concerns.
“Senator Bongbong Marcos says he is also in favor of giving humanitarian considerations for Enrile in the event of his arrest, saying that the older senator is not a flight risk,” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent Willard Cheng on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Marcos was quoted as saying, “He is really in need of constant medical attention. He’s 90 years old. So as long as that can be provided for him, then that’s OK. Ang ugali naman ng Pilipino is to show compassion (Filipino culture dictates that we show compassion). Maybe this is another opportunity for us to express our culture in that way.”
