Bong Go: Trump invited Duterte to visit White House in 2017

According to special assistant to the president Christopher ‘Bong’ Go, U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump has invited President Rodrigo Duterte to visit the White House next year.

Go posted photos of Duterte speaking with Trump over the phone on his Facebook account on Fri night, Dec 2.

Go writes, “Very engaging and animated phone conversation between Pres. Duterte and president elect Trump.”

And yes, of course Go himself is in the photo. After all, he’s not dubbed the “pambansang photobomber” (national photobomber) for nothing.

Manila Bulletin reports that Duterte responded to Trump’s invite by inviting him to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to be held in the Philippines in 2017.

Duterte, a known night owl, made the call at around 10:30 p.m. The phone conversation lasted for about seven minutes.

According to Go in the same report, Duterte and Trump have an understanding.

Nagkakaintindihan iyong dalawa,” Go said.

(The two can understand each other.)

Could this be the end of Duterte’s tirade against the U.S. and the beginning of a lasting bromance?
