Bong gives names to rats: ‘Boy Pick-Up’ and ‘Boom Panot’

This is possibly the most ridiculous story you will read today. Or, make that, this decade.

“Battling intense loneliness since he was detained at the officers’ quarters of the Philippine National Police Custodial Center last Friday, June 20, Senator Bong Revilla found a way to entertain himself by making friends with two big rats which have been visiting him,” reports Aaron B. Recuenco in Manila Bulletin.

In fact, Revilla has reportedly even named the two rats: “Boy Pick-Up” and “Boom Panot.”

The report noted: “In his first privilege speech amid the pork barrel controversy, Revilla coined the monicker ‘Boy Pick-Up’ in an apparent reference to Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas whom he said had picked him up for a meeting to convince him to vote for the conviction of impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona.” And, hey, we all know who is possibly “Boom Panot.”

However, the report said that “Revilla’s media officer Clifford Elorde was quick to defend the senator, noting that the names cropped up based on the appearance of the two rats, as Boy Pick-Up had a habit of stealing food while Boom Panot was balding.”
