Rain or shine, Bombay Bicycle Club’s Wednesday show in Manila—incidentally the Londoners’ first—is pushing through.
The indie band from London is playing the World Trade Center in Pasay, and if frontman Jack Steadman’s interview with Allan Policarpio published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer reveals anything, fans can expect the band to hang around and chat with them after the show. “We like going to the stands after we perform to talk to the fans, ask what we should be doing—where to go, what to eat,” he says.
The band, which formed in 2005, has four albums’ worth of material, all of them featuring different styles and genres, more often than not, influenced and inspired by their personal travels and their tours. “When you’re on tour, you’re [bound to] discover new things. When you come back, you have all these new ideas,” says Steadman.
The vocalist, who writes all the bands’ songs, took a trip to India (and Turkey and Netherlands) between their third and fourth records and you can hear that in their new single “Feel.” “I fell in love with Bollywood. I used the sounds as springboards; when something caught my attention, I wrote a song to it. That’s how it happened with “Feel.”
Perhaps someone will feed the band about our fascination with karaoke, and the Dampa near World Trade! We wanna hear about those in their next record!
