Bomb ‘joke’ delays PAL Express flight

A Philippine Airlines Express flight was delayed Friday morning after an elderly passenger mentioned bombs.

According to reports, a 56-year-old passenger on PAL Express flight 2P 597 to Butuan mentioned someone might plant a bomb under the airplane because there was nobody guarding it.

Passengers were made to disembark and wait at the pre-departure area while their baggage was checked for bombs. The plane was supposed to leave Manila at 6:20 a.m. but was only cleared to go slightly before 10 a.m., reports said.

The man may face charges for making bomb jokes, something that has had flights delayed or turned back in the past.
